Breathe In, Breathe Out

This year has not started out so well on so many levels, yet it has. From losing a dog that is like a member of the family to finding out that your sister/cousin has lost her grand daughter in an accident to hearing of an old school friend getting a life threatening diagnosis to your other cousin's relative passing from Pneumonia, the list goes on, to something deep and trying for your child and her family. satan loves to rattle us on every level he can. he digs deep into worries he knows we hold onto. he scoops up excess sorrow and throws it at us like a child throwing a mud pie at another child. he groups things together to make them seem absolutely enormous and overcoming. Yes, I know I am not capitalizing his name in any sentence, I refuse to, I have always been like that where his name is concerned. he is a liar, a cheat, a faker, a wannabe, a joker. he stinks with the stench of decaying dreams and melancholy that can feel like a boulder on one's chest. A New Year!

Here we go! My new motto is "do it, don't just dream it!" I have a large family. I love them to pieces. However, i am guilty of having difficulty really cutting the apron strings. All 4 of my children are grown, gone, and have families of their own. They all live within 15 minutes of my husband and I and that is why it is sooo easy for me to keep retying those apron strings. ;o) I have been a stay at home momma most of my life, and though i have a degree in photography and and many credit hours in other classes of interest as well, my heart always wiggles right back to being home, baking, painting, babysitting, building, redecorating, and planning. I have decided to sort of give in to that, it is who I am , and i am going to enjoy it instead of fight against it! I have a long list of goals for this year. I hope to reach them all!! I will share here with you as i take my journey and hopefully shed some light on a dream or two of your own that you have put off.

The Heart of a Servant

Today one of the greatest men of God in our Nation and I dare say the world, went home. Social media is packed full of his quotes, his stats of people reached, his smiling face. My mind reflects back to my grandmother. Sunshine beaming through the window of her hospital room, a bird singing on the tree branch within sight of all of us as she took her last breath. Losing her was not hard. Of course selfishly we wanted more time with her. However, to know she was Home was much more on our hearts. She was seeing the face of God. Just as Reverend Graham did this morning. When we look at life and death as a worldly resident it can drain us of every morsel of hope. It can also fill us with fear that cripples us. When Jesus lives inside of us it is a total different story. One filled with truth, direction, peace, and an eternity that is unimaginably perfect. These days it is becoming more and more difficult to separate ourselves from the devices of this planet. T
